How to mix feminine and masculine fashion

I see fashion as something I can play with; I love mixing different styles, silhouettes, textures, etc., and I don’t really identify with one specific style. I see my style as a changing thing, it’s constantly evolving and I wear what I want to. Another thing I love doing is mixing “feminine” and “masculine” pieces but, does clothing have a gender? I think not. Why do we classify them as feminine or masculine? What makes them be that way?

In today’s society, the line between masculine and feminine has started to fade quicker than ever before: there’s more and more unisex lines and also, people trying new looks.
But this isn’t the first time it happens… what about Katherine Hepburn, or Diane Keaton wearing a suit on Annie Hall (fabulous movie btw)? At that time, they “broke the rules”. However, fashion has always been changing and breaking the gender lines: in the 40s, when men were in war, women were adopted more masculine looking clothes due to them having to take care of the labor previously made by men; in the 80s, the structured silhouette was the preferred by women and men (being conventionally considered more like a masculine one).

GET THE LOOK

In today’s look, I’m simply combining a feminine piece, due to its silhouette and details (dress) with a more masculine one (structured blazer with shoulder pads). I personally adore the contrast of both pieces and I want to challenge you to try this! To complete the outfit, I wore my white boots, my little pink bag and a pair of pink sunglasses.
